The original, starring Jack Lord and James MacArthur, still going strong after almost 50 years.

He was 71 years old and passed away from pancreatic cancer. He appeared in three Five-O episodes: - The Child Stealers - A Study in Rage - The Waterfront Steal

I spoke with Richard Hatch at length a couple years ago, and one topic he discussed with me was his many appearances on H5O. He really liked Jack Lord, who remembered Hatch from his "Stoney Burke" days when he was a kid on the set. Lord took a shining to him, and helped him get his first guest role on H5O in season 5, and invited him back for his subsequent appearances in seasons 7 and 8, after which led to " Streets" and "Galactica". Very nice, pleasant and thoughtful man, I'm happy I got to meet him. If only I'd had the chance to meet Mike Connors...

Yes, I seem to remember an interview where he spoke very highly of JL. That pancreatic cancer is a bastard. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Oh that's sad. :( I figured he couldn't have died of old age because he couldn't have been that old. He was quite good in his 3 Five-O appearances and I also remember watching him in the 5th season of STREETS OF SAN FRAN. While it wasn't quite the same without Michael Douglas he was an adequate replacement. He just wasn't "buddy boy" that's for sure.

A sad few years as another Classic HFO alum has passed on Richard Hatch. I probably liked him the most in The Waterfront Steal Season 8 stealing from those warehouses and gut shot with the sexy girlfriend. It's also funny thinking of him as the diabolical Anapo/Opana. He made a good life for himself as some kind of tennis instructor. Nobody wanted Anapo. A Study In Rage received a low rating from Mr. Mike. The Child Stealers was a solid episode but nothing in the Hookman or Engaged To Be Buried territory. He played Gar a rather selfish, impractical fellow. Wish he could have bought his boat and he could be free.
