I will probably be adding a few more things to this page in the near future...

I would like a compendium of episodic themes. That would take a lot of hard word, but wouldn't it make a great collection of good music!

I don't see a way to go back in and add to what I said, so . . .

Each should include all the themes heard in that episode; e.g., "How to Steal a Masterpiece Theme," which you have compiled.

Another good compendium would be of the various Five-0 theme arrangements as heard within episodes; e.g., the western arrangement heard in "We Hang Our Own."

If you are logged in to the board and you make a posting, when you view that posting, there is an EDIT button on the right just above the posting.

The How to Steal a Masterpiece music was not "compiled" by me, but by Morton Stevens. This was taken from a promotional tape which Stevens sent out to some people way back when. Obviously he thought highly of this music as he did of that he did for Hookman, probably his most famous score for an individual episode.

I'm sure that someone could make suites of music for individual episodes. The only problem would be that this would include dialogue and sound effects. I did my own version of the Five-O soundtrack many years ago which included suites like this to fill out the album, since the Capitol soundtrack is only about half an hour long. In addition to Hookman and Masterpiece, this CD also included music by Broughton from Double Exposure and The Finishing Touch.

How did this slip past us? Lawsuits left and right. If you haven't bought your LP / CD of the soundtrack, you'd better do so before this case gets to court.

What soundtrack are you talking about?

Morton Stevens' 1969 soundtrack, which was released on CD a few years ago.

Oh I already have that one. But is the new show using music from that soundtrack? Aside from the main theme? And why would this impact the availability of the soundtrack in any way? Their beef is with the creators of Five-Zero, not with the soundtrack itself. For instance if someone went ahead and used music from John Barry's GOLDFINGER does that mean the soundtrack would automatically get pulled from circulation? I don't think so.

That Hollywood Reporter article was mentioned here over a year ago:

As far as I know, nothing is happening because of this supposed suit (though admittedly it does take a long time for things like this to get resolved in the court system).

I certainly missed it back then. So many lawsuits stemming from one fantastic show. So sad.
