One of the things I get a kick out in watching the old Hawaii Five-O shows, is the old technology. The pay phone booths. The rotary phones, and of course, those "modern" computers! It's actually great to see those again. I bet that even in todays's world, the Five-O team could still solve any crime using that old technology. Oh, but I can't picture Kono with an Ipod(haha).

Danno has been living on the mainland for quite some time now. He was here for the Hawaii Five-0 reunion but that was a few years back. The Security firm I work for provided security for the event. I have a Five-0 Badge... Not too many of the original cast still around or still living on the Islands. Mc Garratt, Chin Ho, many of the others passed away. In my story Chin Ho presents himself briefly in a 'Ghostly' presence. I am currently in contract negotiations for the book, but publishing (at least the real Brick and Mortar on store shelves kind) is very expensive (Over $5000 per book with my current publishing perspective) so I am keeping my options open for now and hope a publisher or screenwriting agent who is a fan of 5-0 or Magnum PI will notice my work and offer to represent me. I originally wrote Part 2,- then "Sting of the Jade Scorpion" in Screenplay form, but getting the novel out first might speed up the process so I concentrated on the manuscripts. Either way I will continue in my endeavor until they dig a 6 foot hole and stick me in the grave... And even then, I'll probably go out Kicking...Michael from Hawaii.

HAWAII 5-0 WAS/IS LIKE A DREAM TO ME SINCE 1973. I met many people who met the stars. My filipina frind Elda's father knew James McArthur- Elda and her fiend met james at the Ala Moana Center many years ago and he said to Elda "I know your dad!!" Jack Lord corresponded w/my cousin in 1981 and was so nice. James is from Nyack NY right next to me- I hope he still resides in Hawaii. Your Friend, Tony the Dream Weaver

Aloha... Oh by the way I did send complete copies of my 3 novels to James MacArthur, as well as John Hillerman, Tom Sellick, Donald P Bellasarious, Tia Carerre, Cary and several other Hawaii/CA based actors who were involved in the shows to revive my 5-0 and Magnum themed stories, but so far have received no response. James, if you read this give me a buzz... you got my number--I hope? If you're planning to get away from the mainland and stop by Honolulu sometime, maybe I can meet up with you at the Elks Club and we can hash things out... Michael Hedges Honolulu Hi

So here is a short synopsis of THE HAWAIIAN KNIGHTS SAGA BY MICHAEL HEDGES, Honolulu Hi Part 1 “SWORD OF THE KAGE’TAMA” A treacherous Samurai Warlord, possessed by an Alien being’s consciousness, terrorizes Okinawa until his sudden demise in a cataclysmic volcanic eruption. Over five hundred years later a musical instrument is purchased at auction for the sum of seventy-five dollars. During a friendly struggle it breaks apart revealing its secret hidden contents… a concubine’s diary and treasure map. After some serious soul searching, an aging millionaire, Jonathan Swiggins, sees this as an opportunity to revitalize his complacent humdrum life… but during the quest unbeknownst to him, during his journey into the inner sanctums of the unknown, he also unlocks the door to the dark side. Part 2 “STING OF THE DEATHSTALKER” Reminiscent of the Hawaii Five-0 television series and Magnum PI, a modern day Yakusa kingpin and heir to the Gichin Dynasty wreaks havoc upon the Hawaiian Islands. During his flight he leads Chief Investigator Mike Mc Knight 9Mc Garrett) and his partner Chino (Danno)on a manhunt encompassing the North Pacific islands until finally coming to a dramatic and unexpected closure in a crowded Japanese amusement park. Part 3 “SHATTERED REFLECTIONS” Twins are separated during infancy following a botched kidnapping in a North Korean harbor. With their father critically wounded and no one at the rudder, the family is helplessly lost at sea. With no fresh food or water, their dilapidated fishing boat drifts aimlessly in the currents as they flee the would-be kidnappers. Weeks later their boat finally crashes into a stormy reef sinking into the channel off Molokai. Rescued by passing fishermen, one boy grows up as the adopted son of Rusty Winters, a 5-0 cop, while the other is raised as the illegitimate son of a notorious North Korean drug and arms dealer. (Originally Chinese mobs Wo Fat) As if it were their destiny, the sibling’s lives eventually clash, each finding themselves on opposite sides of the law. The adopted son of the Hawaii detective knows not why someone tried to murder him, nor has he any knowledge of his past following a near fatal experience at the hands of his long forgotten twin brother and that his evil twin had murdered his father and girlfriend in cold blood and stolen his identity. WGAE REGISTERED-2006 Homeless and wandering the back alleys of the San Francisco harbor, Teddy Winters follows his fragmented memories and with the help of a fellow vagrant and the earthbound spirit of the long dead musician Johnny Starr, tries to find out where he came from and who he is.

Aloha... One fine day in Sept of 2000 I made up a quick story off the top of my head as I wrote "Hawaii Five-0 The Second Millenium - Sting of the Jade Scorpion: and posted it here in the guestbook Check it out in the archives! Now over 7 years later, due to copyright laws and a not so nice from it's previous owner- Disney Productions after submitting it to them, I call it "Hawaiian Knights" and have 3 novels ready for publishing and Screenplays completed. "Sword of the Kage'eTama" is a combination of 5-0, Shogun and Magnum PI. with a little Japanese legend'Obake' included... Also "Sting of the Deathstalker" and "Shattered Reflections" continue the saga... I almost had the movie producers interested once but alas no contract yet, Although Rose Freeman did write me back shortly after and said to pursue my story and not to give up- but don't give any more plots away on the internet as someone might steal them. Well Rose, I write almost every day and hopefully my efforts will soon pay off. I will be setting up a homepage as soon as the book is published (or ready to be)... Of course the plot has changed dramatically since my first concept idea in Sept 2000 but it can easily be converted back into Hawaii Five-0 if permission is granted by Rose Freeman to do so. Thank you Rose, for your inspiration... You husband and his creation will never be forgotten... Michael Hedges Honolulu Hi/ Brigantine NJ

In response to MQ, I found out that Prometheus Records has released CBS Television Music by Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Goldsmith, so it looks like this label has an "In" with the CBS people. I would think that they might be able to access and release the music scores from Hawaii Five-0. BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM stocks the CBS music, so I would think they would be the best people to contact to express our interest in getting the Five-0 music released - again, what do you think? Thanks.

My mistake on the years of Hawaiian Eye it ran from October 1959 to September 1963. Here is the link if you want more info on the show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiian_Eye Then came Hawaii Five-O that took the world by storm. Jack Lord is looking down on us all buying the DVD's. Really what a great show! I even have the Hawaii Five-O Ring tone on my phone. By the way, I figured out a way to take some of the music scores in Five-O as ring tones. I used the sound score from FOB Honolulu Part 1 the end part where the guy breaks the Buddha with a wrench. I even used it as a startup sound on a PC as a joke for someone I know at work.

Hello again from Half Moon Bay,California where we are known for are Maverick sixty foot waves in the winter time. If you had the right actors to play the main part in the Hawaii Five-O Movie (McGarrett it could work. But it has to be done properly, not made into some slap stick comedy like they did with with some television shows they made into movies. I've watched Five-O ever since it aired in September 21, 1968. I have recorded all the shows on VHS, I even have the original "She's Dead She Hung Herself" which is on VHS tape that I recorded from the show and not on the DVD's everyone was talking about in Season 2. They just don't make television shows like they use to back in the sixties. Do any of you remember the first Hawaiian Show in the early sixites? This is before Hawaii Five-O of course? OK! "Hawaiian Eye" ran from 1960 to 1963 short lived. What about "Vince" the guy who is on Law and Order Criminal Intent, he could play a good McGarrett? Really we need to ask James McCarther get his thoughts about a movie. Maybe the producers can consult him before making the film? In the meantime, enjoy Season #4 June 22, 2008.

I have been a 5-0 fan forever! I still cannot get enough of Mcgarrett and the rest of the 5-0 crew. God I wish for those days, I use to watch this show, tape each episode on the VCR and watch them over and over. The "V" for Vachon is probably one of the best triology's ever in TV Crime Drama series history. I miss Jack so much and I too, was deeply saddened to see his pass. I wish I could have met him, I loved what he did for the character, tough as nails and no nonsense, lead by example. Great traits for a cop! Aloha to all 5-0 fans and keep the DVD's coming @ Mark

There probably would be the same issues/problems with re-recording the music as well. However, call me nostalgic, but I've always hated music that has been re-recorded or remastered, etc... There's something about bringing back original memories, that is ruined when trying to re-record or remaster music. For example, take the good old rock and roll classics of the 1960's. There's no doubt that they can reproduce those tunes with far better quality, but the way the original music sounded back then (whether on am radio, the hisses, etc., preserves the original memories. When I hear the Hawaii Five-O music on TV, or wherever, the memories are far more enlightening to me than any attempt to remaster or improve the sound quality. How ironic.....we could definitely improve the quality of the music from a technological standpoint (and ruin the nostalgia), but we really can't improve on the show itself by trying to make a movie (no matter what the obstacle or reason is.). Again, if you like improvement in the music, go for it and see what the obstacles may be with the owners of the music. As for me, I prefer the original Five-O music from the show!

I've got a question concerning the release of a soundtrack. What if the soundtrack/score was re-recorded? Would you still have the same issues to deal with that are currently stopping it. I have purchased wonderful CDs of classic horror music that was all redone and the sound is probably better than the original. The objective is to match as closely as possible to the original. Any ideas??

With the release of the DVD's, I was wondering if we can get a soundtrack label to release the original Hawaii Five-0 TV scores on CD - boy, would this be great, havng the scores by Morton Stevens, Don B. Ray, Richard Shores and Bruce Broughton. I'm sure there is enough interest here for this project. There are some record labels that deal with soundtracks only, such as INTRADA.COM, FILMSCOREMONTHLY.COM & BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM. Perhaps, we can all write to these labels to get them interested, as well - what do you think? Thanks... [I brought this question up with an outfit which reissues soundtracks, and the spokesman there said that (a) CBS is impossible to deal with and (b) EMI wants too much money for the LP. - MQ]

OK,if anyone knows James McCarther, I would like to know if even has heard if Five-O will be made into a movie. There was a lot of talk back three or four years ago, nothing happened except Dreamworks wanted to take control, George ito said no. After all that nothing happened! Maybe Rose Freeman can shed some light if a movie is in the works. I wonder who would play Wo Fat in the movie, if it was made. Have you all purchased Season 4 yet? If not, buy it today. We have to keep CBS pushing Season out. Book Em Dano,

~ The 'Hawaii Five-O' movie has been in the planning stage for a very long time now. Undoubtedly, there are too many problems with it, or we would have seen it by now. Personally, I don't think I'd be interested in watching it. The only part that I would find appealing would be the scenery and beside that, today's actors wouldn't be able to capture the aura of the original productions. Actors nowadays are too much into themselves and how they are going to look on 'ET', 'Inside Edition', or 'Access Hollywood', OR to have a platform to express their political views. I think that things concerning 'Five-O' should remain as just the TV series that we love so much was. There will never be another Jack Lord, Kam Fong, Zulu, Herman Wedemeyer, Richard Denning, or ANY of the fine actors that portrayed the characters that comprised 'Hawaii Five-O'. I'd hate to see anyone even try to step into those shoes! Let's just leave PERFECTION alone! ~ Be(ing) There, ALOHA! ~

Right. Ford is too old, too type-casted, and I have a feeling that there will truly never be a good replacement for an outstanding series. There was one remark, a few back, where someone mentioned the guy who appears in the CBS series Criminal Minds. He does fit the personality and profile, but can a supporting cast really be found. There's no doubt there are qualified writers who could write a good movie for Five-O, but I've just seen too many attempts to remake movies off old tv series which fail. They cost too much, and two many chiefs have the say so in production. Nevertheless, Hawaii Five-O will remain a classic whether or not a movie is ever made. I'm glad too that there are so many fans. PS: Has anyone ever thought of contacting Danno (James Mcarthur) to get his opinion as to the reality of such a movie, or who he would think might make a good cast? I've seen some brief references, but nothing definite.

Harisson FOrd got too much grey to play McG. Time to think outside the box, give the role to an unknown brown-skinned Hawaiian who possesses some of McG's best qualities. Update the cast and show, make it fit into modern times, and blaze a new path like the original show did all those years ago. I like to think Jack would give the thumbs-up on this. He is now a man of the people, a Hawaiian himself in spirit and deed.

Hi Diane, thank you for the backing me up that Harrison Ford would be a good Steve McGarrett to play the main roll. I know George Ito was thinking about making the movie, but seems that Dreamworks wanted to make a change to the script. Not sure what the status of the movie is today, but I think it would be very successful if its done properly. I have writen a script that would be action packed for Five-O to solve. Now that we know Season 5 will be out sometime end of November mid December time frame we can all start looking forward to the DVD. I have pre-ordered my Season 4 through Amazon, everyone should order it now, because you get a price break when pre-order it a head of time. The more people who keep buying Hawaii Five-O DVD's CBS will keep making the other Season available for us fans. One other thing! I have taken the drama music from the show made it into ring tones. So, far people asked where I got it from, I say Hawaii Five-O

I'm not sure Harrison Ford would be the best choice for a movie, ut I also think that Hawaaii Five-o is one of those classics that can't really be remade into a movie after all these years. Many old shows have been made into movies. Some did well, others just proved you should leave well enough alone. Thank goodness we still have access to all the original shows!

I used to really enjoy the original series and then, by chance, actually stayed at a golf resort on Oahu which was used in one (or more?) episodes. It was fun to discover this afterwards when I was just watching a rerun episode and saw the pool area along side the poolside resturant where we ate every night. George Clooney would be a good selection for the part of Steve McGarret, although I have to admit, I miss the original actors in all of my early TV days.

I was only 15 when the show began, and as with many of the shows from the 1960's and on, they all bring back such fond memories of the good old days. This website truly does an outstanding job of representing Hawaii Five-O! I was so devastated to read about the fate of Jack Lord. I never knew anything about his life after the show, except that people mentioned he had gotten old fast. Well, he was nearly 50 when the show began, and he was in good shape and a great actor. But to read about the disease that robbed his mind and destroyed him, was heartbreaking! Most sad, as was written by one of the actors, that his lack of friends left him a very lonely man, except for the blessing of a faithful wife. My wife suffers from Huntington's disease, slightly different, but nonetheless a brain degenerating condition that is genetic and terminal. I take care of her full time 24/7. So, Hawaii Five-O is a great show, it also reminds us to enjoy the moment of our lives, and never take life for granted. Life is precious, short, and the greatest riches one can have are faithful friends and a loving spouse! Thanks for such a great website! I watch reruns each weekday here, but now I view the show a little more differently after knowing so many sad facts. Horrible diseases! Let's book-em Danno!

The year Hawaii 5-0 made its debut, my husband and I were married in the USAF (we were both in the Service as officers) and after a year were assigned to Vietnam. We watched the show often before leaving for overseas. When we returned 3 years later, we were so happy to find out that Hawaii 5-O was still on! What a fantastic dramatic crime show; Jack Lord and the other actors did a magnificent job in portraying the episodes, and showing the beautiful scenery of Hawaii and its islands. I was deeply saddened to learn of Jack Lord's passing in 1998. I will always remember him as "boss" and saying "book him Danno." This truly is a classic t.v. series and I am purchasing those episodes that have been made for DVD. Thank you CBS, Jack Lord & everyone who contributed to this classic! Most of all, thank you Marie Lord, for sharing your husband with the world! God bless!

Yes, Time Warner is carrying a "retro" channel in its digital package here in Raleigh that shows H 5-0 episodes at 10:00pm every weeknight. I'm trying to resist watching them so I won't "spoil" the S-4 release this summer. Mostly rewatching episodes from seasons 1-2 now. While this was the best cop show ever (no offense to Law & Order or NYPD Blue or Hill Street Blues fans), I still get a kick out of spotting the same two continuity errors that occur in almost every episode. Can anyone guess what they are? As for future releases, bring on the Vashons!! When is that....season 5??? "McGarrett DIES!!!"
